Got out on lake today with a buddy and we headed up the West Fork to see if I could still get in it. Haven't tried since Imelda. I found path is different but it is deeper. We headed upstream and I realized Conroe was dumping lots of water. Before we knew it we were pretty far upstream. Then we were like.....lets try and get to Grand Parkway! In the end we made it no problem. The entire river at today's flow (529 cfs) was 1.5 to 2 ft deep all the way to Grand Parkway. I honestly probably could have made it to the Conroe dam if I had enough gas to get back. Here is a pic of us north of Grand Parkway looking south. I'm uploading a video of the entire run back down stream to YouTube and will share shortly.

Sticko,

Wish YouTube would show high def. The footage is much better/ scenic at 4K.

Brand new I could get 40 mph out of it. In 3 years enough sand has run through it, and a couple big sticks, that I've worn the impeller down. Right now I'm getting 36 or 37 out of it on flat water. Coming down stream I was doing ~ 38.5 with the current pushing me. At 99 the current was really flowing, probably 6+ mph, but by the time I got down to Spring Creek it was barely noticeable. Ill probably run one more year and then change the impeller and sleeve out.

I just used Google Earth and it is 11.2 miles from Grand Parkway to Spring Creek. From there it is another 3.9 miles to the River Grove ramp. In total it took me 31 minutes to run back so that gives 29 mph average.

If it were me i think i would have to put a
couple extra cans of gas on board and make the
run all the up to conroe just for grins.
my boat is just to heavy to run in 1-2 feet of water
it will run it as long as i stayed on top but if i shut
down i would be stuck.

Sticko,
I plan to try it but it will have to be next Conroe drop. They have already started reducing flow rate today as they approach the agreed level for spring.

Depending on who and who many is with me my boat floats in 6” to 12” of water. When I know Im going upriver shallow exploring I usually take a couple youngsters with me in case I stick on a bar. Usually us jumping out is enough to get her floating. To get running I can pull it off in a foot of water but takes some finesse or a little current. 18” I can jump up and run all day long.
