The other day I posted in the general fishing category about a plan to get on the lake today. We were on the water by 8am and off by about 2pm. We ended up with 16 catfish caught on jug lines between the 1960 bridge and the railroad bridge. The water temp was 88 degrees! We did some drift fishing while waiting for the jug lines to work and caught a few under size catfish. We also motored up Luce and tried throwing plastic worms, top water lures, top water frogs, crank baits, you name it. Not a bite. As I've said before, I just suck at fishing with a rod and reel but I can make jug lines work most of the time. It was a great day on the water, though.

16 cats is a good day. Good on ya mate. Might be a while before I can get out again. Might have retorn the right rotator cuff. Will find out next week. In the meantime, look forward to more catfish posts.
BTW, how deep were your juglines?

Thanks Weatherman. My jug lines are 20' so I put them in up to 18' deep and usually not less than 12'. That's what the depths are where I fish just out of each of the channels south of the 1960 bridge. I have some 10' extensions that I use on Conroe in some deeper places but I've found that 10' to 18' seems to hold the most fish. Or maybe that's the depth they go to eat. My lines have 5 hooks each and yesterday they were catching on all of them. Sometimes only the upper hooks are catching or only the lower hooks.
Hope your shoulder isn't damaged again. I wrestled with chronic bursitis in my shoulder for several years. It's astounding how limited your activities become when you can't use your shoulder. Good luck and good health.

anyone notice the thermocline that will determine the max depth
you want to fish. I did not notice any last time on the water. But
with temps in the triple digits could happen.
