Thought I would fish the river since its been quite a while since I was up there. Beware....barge and pilot boat traffic. Otherwise, I managed 11 blues and channels before wakes and wind sent me home after about 2 hours. If youre gonna fish the river, stay out of the middle. Water temp in the 80s. Much prettier water in main lake. Did hook a large gar but when I realized what it was I cut the line.

I looked all over for bait and all I could find was chicken hearts. I called everybody I knew and asked them what kind of bait to use and they all said chicken hearts. So I grabbed some hot dogs and some chicken hearts, ate the hot dogs on the way to the lake and had to use the chicken hearts for bait.

All fun aside, I, of course, used chicken hearts. I threw out a few jugs in 15 FOW but the wind and the wakes pushed them into water as shallow as 4 FOW and along the bank. Bites seemed to come from around 8 to 11 FOW.

Welcome to the site. What kind of rig you got? Will keep a lookout for you.

We have been catching more on worms than hearts or liver lately. Some days we have used cheese, hearts, liver, worms, minnows and punch bait. We caught a few under WLH bridge largest was a little over 3 lbs. All on rod and reel.

CAUGHT 7 THIS MORNING IN THE RIVER CLOSE TO SHARKY'S, , ABOUT 2-3 FT OF WATER. FISHED ABOUT 40 FT OFF THE BANK AND CAST IN TO 2-3 FT OF WATER, FISHED LIVER UNDER CORKS ABOUT 2 FT DOWN. LOT OF HITS, LOT OF DINKS. TREBLE HOOKS WORKED BEST FOR HOLDING LIVER AND SNAGGING THEM SLIMY LIPS. BE THERE AGAIN TOMORROW. LOT OF SHAD AND SMALL PERCH IN THE CAST NET TOO, BUT THEY WOULDN'T EVEN NIBBLE ON A PERCH OR SHAD.

Have you ever tried this? I use it on dead shrimp and it works really well.
