Went out late yesterday to see water temp and run my boat.
Wind was high out of the South. Water temps were about 42-45 degrees. Went up to dog leg in EF.
There used to be a big pine down in the water on the East bank, just past The Commons beach and it has been removed.
Did not see any big schools of shad or many fish to speak of. Saw several long and skinny fish, but not sure what they were. Gar?
Noted that just past the long island as you enter EF, all the trees that were sticking out of the water have been removed.
Even some on West bank of EF had been removed.
Motor cranked right up. When I put it in reverse, it was making a clicking noise.
Went in forward just fine.
When coming back from EF it lost 75-80% of its power at the cut through before I got to Luce Bayou.
Not sure if I spun a hub or it is something worse.
Will take it out of the water today and empty it and then clean it up. Will take to Holliday Marine tomorrow.
Need to get my yearly maintenance done as well so I will be ready for the spawn in a few weeks, maybe more.

could be moisture in the gasoline if you did not put any sta-bil in it
may have frozen check fuel filter.

Thanks for the update.
I was doing my best to warm the lake (from my dock) when our water and power were off...

I use marine sta-bil religiously. Got it out and on the trailer. Cleaned for 2-1/2 hours and unloaded most all of my stuff. Will organize my jigs and put new line on my 4 jigging poles. I am glad this weather finally warmed up. I might have lost 2 lemons, a lime and 2 peach trees. But I will give them a couple more weeks to see if they do or will recover. It will be garden planting time soon also.

Update on my motor. Apparently mono fishing line got under the prop. This allowed water to seep into the lower unit. The water froze and created a small crack in the lower housing. Likely the crack opened up while I was running. Lost all the oil in the lower unit. Not sure of what damage if any to the gears, etc as they will be checking that out today.
They will sort through it and get parts ordered. I am also getting the Fishing Specialties Livescope pole put on to replace the one I have on the boat now. My boat is a 2012 and this is the first major mechanical problem on my 50 HP Yamaha I have had so far.
One good thing, mine was the only boat in for repair, so I was first in line.
Note: don't throw your fishing line overboard. And I do realize someone could have got hung up and broke off and it found its way onto my prop.
Glad the spawn is still a few weeks out.

Lower unit problem is better than a motor problem.....Get'er Done......
That string last for years in the lake...... And can make fishn a pile a pain in the you know what......
